Koi Piercing Studio

Salt Lake City

Koi is a dedicated piercing-only studio with decades of combined experience. This is where our own artists go to get pierced, and we can’t recommend them enough! They have almost all female piercers, which are all members of The Association of Professional Piercers (APP).

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Please eat a healthy meal before your appointment and drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated. Get a good nights rest the night before and avoid drinking alcohol within 24 hours of your appointment. Bring snacks, water, a sweater, and any other items that will help you feel more comfortable during your appointment. We do have some snacks and drinks here at the shop for clients. For more information on how to prepare for an appointment, check out our blog post here!

Do you do cover-ups?

Yes, we do! Whether you’re looking for a cover-up, rework, blast over, or blackout, our artists are happy to refresh or cover an old tattoo. Tattoo options (subject matter, colors, design, etc.) may be more limited for cover-ups. Please contact us if you’d like to discuss cover-up options.

Read more about which options (cover-up, blast over, blackout, etc.) may be best for you in our blog here!

Do you tattoo 16 or 17 year olds?

Some artists will and some won’t - those that do will require:

  • A birth certificate or passport AND another form of ID from the minor
  • Written parental consent
  • The parent/guardian’s ID
  • Reasonable proof of identity and familial relationship (e.g. ID + birth certificate showing relationship between parent/guardian and minor)
  • The parent/guardian MUST remain present during the entire duration of the appointment
  • The tattoo must be done on arms or lower legs ONLY

Please note that there are NO exceptions to these rules - they’re Utah law!
